REACH
Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of
Chemicals, a new EU chemicals (substances) legislation entered
into force 1st June 2007.
LINBRAZE UUID:
ECHA-f0aaa08c-f4a1-44d5-b276-a1ef9951a1aa
This piece of legislation has implications for all
substances that are manufactured in, or imported into the EU,
in quantities of 1 tonne or more per year, and requires the
mandatory compilation of a comprehensive substance information
dossier for every such substance.
The dates of submission of the dossiers are dependent on the
tonnage and hazard properties of the substance and range
between November 2010 and May 2018. To take advantage of these
extended deadlines the manufacturer/importer must pre-register
the substance with the European Chemicals Agency as required
by the regulation.
Pre-Registration
We are committed to work closely with our suppliers to
achieve the pre-registration of all substances, by our
suppliers or ourselves, that are used throughout our processes
to maintain continued production.
Registration
The legislation requires that registration is carried out
by the manufacturer/importer of a substance who is based in
the EU. Our substance inventory shows that for most of our
substances we are downstream users and as such we will advise
our suppliers of our uses and other uses throughout the supply
chain. For substances where we are the importer we will work
closely with our customers to ensure that all relevant
information is available for successful registration.
Compliance
To achieve our goals in successfully meeting all the
requirements of REACH we are working closely with our Trade
Associations and involved in a number of different consortia,
each one dedicated to a particular substance.
